An itinerary following along the Carol River, with stunning panoramic views of the Campcardos Valley, perfect for fishermen!
The pathway runs through the Carol Valley, from Porté-Puymorens to Latour de Carol via Porta. This path borders the Carol where it is possible to join the GR 7 and GR 107 by going up the Campcardos valley and crossing the Ribera de Campcardos.
Along the way, you will have the opportunity to cross lush forests, contemplate the glacial lock at the Saut du Carol bridge, then the SNCF line viaduct and the old granite quarries used for its construction. It is also possible to see the hamlet of Carol, its two towers, the oratory of Notre Dame du Carmel de Courbassil as well as the hamlet of Courbassil and its church.

Fishing: Cerdanya offers an exceptional range of places. Whether in the river or in the lake, you have the possibility to bring back in your "canastrella", torrent Fario trout, rainbow trout of the Bouillouses strain from the lakes, brook salmon and Arctic charr from Lac du Lanoux. The beauty of the landscapes and the attraction for this leisure activity should not make you forget that some lakes are located in high mountains. Be equipped accordingly. For your happiness and that of all those who love nature, it is asked to respect the cleanliness of the place, the fauna, flora and of course the fish.

IT'S WORTH A VISIT!

Birch Valley: On its side facing the ubac, the Campcardos Valley offers the largest and highest birch forest in the Eastern Pyrenees (over 2,300 m). In autumn, the density of these trees gives a very exceptional picture of colours.

Carol's Castle: A route as far as the Carol Valley required the ostensible presence of county and then royal authority and the protection of the population who took refuge here. Any man in a position to bear arms placed himself at the disposal of the lord of the castle, paid by the king. As the inhabitants stored their reserves there, subsistence was assured.
