LA CAROLANE

This itinerary, which can be adjusted to suit your wishes, will take you from Andorra to France before finally reaching Spain.

The Carolane trail connects Pas de la Case (Andorra) with the municipality of Puigcerda (Spain). The starting altitude is 2,085 m, the arrival altitude is 1205 m.
Advices: During your hike, you will have the opportunity to meet many starting points leading to the different hamlets and viewpoints. The particularity of this trail is that it can be adapted to your timing and level. There are indeed many starting points, intersections and local circuits so that you can imagine your outings.

THAT'S WORTH A VISIT!

Mines of the Pimorent: Archaeology already finds traces of mines in Roman times, but it was not until the 17th century that written sources were available. A first local exploitation gave way in the 19th century to industrial groups that abandoned the Catalan forges in 1918 and took advantage of the trans-Pyrenean railroad in the 20th century. The mine closed in 1966.

Downstream of the "Saut du Carol" bridge, you can discover a series of impressive waterfalls, especially in periods of heavy water. You will also see the old granite quarries for the engineering structures of Carol's Paris-Latour line and in particular for the construction of the Puymorens railway tunnel and the various viaducts, the most important of which is Carol's.
