    PR N°24

Two circular hikes that can be mixed to enjoy a 270° view of the Cerdanya, with pleasant picnic areas.

Tradition rediscovered: Palau has managed to preserve the greatest richness of its cultural heritage. Every August 16th, the village relives with passion its authentic Xicolatada, created 350 years ago. Fifteen Master Chocolate Masters secretly prepare 700 litres of chocolate distributed at 11am. Another date in the life of the Palauencs is August 13, the day of the Bread Festival, during which the oven (from the 19th century) and the old mill (from the 12th century and renovated in the 16th century), which ceased to function in 1944, reopened its doors to give the Bread Festival a traditional spirit and a bread of yesteryear.

    Departure: Palau Town Hall.

    THAT'S WORTH A VISIT!

The Palau mill: Few mills still pride themselves on having maintained their ancestral role in the service of the population. Renovated a few decades ago, the Palau mill is one of them. Every year, during the 13 August bread festival, the granite cheeses still turn to the delight of the participants in this Catalan festival.
The 17th century church where you can see baptismal font from the 13th century. The size of the tank may explain the legend that baptism was once done by total immersion of the children. Also worth seeing is a 14th century Romanesque virgin.
